In the beginning of 2019, we were going on biweekly date nights. We admit, it kind of stopped after our summer trip, and then the start of the busiest school year Jamie has had in a while has affected it too, but it doesn’t mean that we’ve stopped “dating” altogether. In the spirit of bringing back those biweekly date nights (after HHN is over with, of course!), we want to share some of our favorite date night restaurants in Orlando.
Hillstone, in beautiful Winter Park, is the perfect place to go if you’re looking for a romantic evening out. It’s located right on a lake (Lake Killarney to be exact) and boasts some gorgeous sunsets. It’s the perfect place for a slow and relaxing evening. We recommend getting there a bit before your reservation so that you have the chance to sit outside and watch the falling sun while sipping on a pre-dinner cocktail.
But, the most important part? The food. We’ve been here for both dinner and brunch multiple times. Each time, we are more than satisfied with the food, drinks, and service.
One thing to keep in mind: there is a dress code. So please be sure to check out the website for more information prior to heading over there.
The Ravenous Pig
Another favorite for both brunch and dinner, The Ravenous Pig is also located in Winter Park. We shared one of our first date night in Orlando here, right after we moved in together. The food is absolutely delicious – we still dream of the chocolate tart from that first night! – and, with the ever-changing menu, there are no excuses for not returning.
With a brewery attached to the restaurant, we feel that the atmosphere can be whatever you want: make it a nice, romantic night out and sip on some wine at the table or dress down and share a glass of locally brewed beer before or after dinner.
Agave Azul Cocina Mexicana
This place is LITERALLY one of our favorites in Orlando. The food is amazing and, coming from the man that is obsessed with chorizo tacos, their chorizo tacos are delicious. So are their shrimp tacos!
The decor in this place is such a dream. We love to sit inside or outside. It’s such a nice place to chill and relax, all while sipping on a margarita and snacking on their queso.
Yes, get the queso. It’s worth it. It’s totally worth it.
Reel Fish Coastal Kitchen and Bar
Fun Fact: Reel Fish Coastal is located in the exact spot that The Ravenous Pig was in when we first went. It looks both similar and different now but the food is still delicious.
To be honest, Jamie hadn’t even thought about stopping in for a date night but, after a small blogger event (with fresh oysters!), she knew she had to go back.
So, this spot was picked for, not just one – but two! – date nights. The oysters are delicious, the seafood is fresh and perfectly prepared, and the atmosphere is inviting. It’s one of the places we plan on taking our parents to one day. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t perfect for a date!
For a quick, local date night, we love to go to Soco. It’s so close, we can walk there, which means we’re able to order a bottle of wine if we’d like! Yum!
This restaurant takes its own, contemporary spin on southern cuisine. We love their spin on fried okra. It’s delicious – the blend of spices and the dip are amazing.
We’ve been here so much, we’ve had almost everything on their menu. Adam’s favorites include their snapper and the hanger steak (the hanger steak isn’t on their current menu). Jamie’s favorites include the dinner portion of the chicken and dumplings and the scallops.
Their dessert is superb. The cocktails are perfection.
SoCo Tip: Check out their banana pudding. It’s one of our favorites.
Mamak Asian Street Food
Another great casual spot for date night is Mamak. After coming back from St. Lucia, we were seeking a spot where we could get roti. Well, Mamak was it. And now we keep going back for more. So please, if you go to Mamak, get the roti. It’s well worth it.
Now, we haven’t ordered a large variety of items while there. We both love rice, so stick to their rice dishes. It’s the once place that Jamie orders the same thing over and over again. It’s shocking, as she loves to order various dishes (and never, albeit this place, orders the same thing twice). But it’s a testament to the food.
Mamak Tip: Order them on Amazon Restaurants. It’s great take-out.
PS: Can you tell Jamie’s an introvert?
